Transportation
Volunteers drive clients to medical appointments or on other errands such as to the bank or to the grocery store. Volunteers provide transportation locally or to out-of-town locations such as London or Kitchener. Volunteers are reimbursed for their mileage.
Meals on Wheels
Hot, nutritious meals are delivered by volunteers from Monday to Friday. A monthly schedule is devised so you can deliver once or twice a month or as often as your time permits.
Frozen Meals
Volunteers deliver frozen meals on a bi-weekly basis. This occurs usually on Thursday mornings. Volunteers are reimbursed for their mileage.
Diners Club
A congregate dining program that offers a hot, nutritious meal to seniors in an environment that encourages social interaction. Volunteers are needed to assist with greeting diners, setting up for the meal, serving diners, and cleaning up after the program.
Friendly Visiting
This support program matches volunteers with a senior who is feeling isolated, lonely, or who could just use a friend. The client and volunteer visit on a one-to-one basis in the client's home.
Telephone Reassurance
Volunteers make telephone calls to seniors and/or adults with disabilities who live alone to check in on their health and safety. Calls are made from the volunteer's home.
Wellness Program
Town and Country offers a variety of exercise and wellness programs that promote healthy living and disease prevention for seniors. Training is provided for volunteers to become Certified Exercise Instructors, Certified Hike Leaders, Certified Nordic Walking Instructors, Exercise in the Home Leaders, and Indoor Walking Leaders. Volunteers also assist with health promotion programs such as CHAP (blood pressure clinics).
Special Events and Fundraising
Volunteers assist with special projects and events - such as mailing campaigns and the annual golf tournament. This is an excellent choice for the person with a busy schedule as volunteers only contribute time during their chosen events.
